INVISIBLE THREADS

New York City is often perceived as a place of anonymity, where millions pass without ever truly meeting. In this project, I challenge that perception by focusing on quiet moments of connection woven into everyday life. Rather than photographing landmarks or the city's pace, I sought conversations, laughter, gestures, and moments of closeness that reveal the humanity within its constant movement. Inspired by the idea of invisible threads connecting people, each photograph captures an ordinary interaction that becomes part of something larger. The embroidered red thread physically links separate moments into one continuous network, representing the unseen bonds created through shared experiences and the ways our lives intersect. My process centered on observation and patience, allowing authentic moments to unfold naturally. By combining photography with digital embroidery, I transformed individual photographs into a single installation where thread becomes both a physical and symbolic connection. Even in a city defined by anonymity, moments of kindness and shared experience remind us that none of us exists in isolation. Through this project, I hope viewers pause to notice the invisible connections that surround them.
